At 4pm on 12th November, 1914, The 2nd Royal Scots battalion of 8 Brigade, 3rd Division left their billets at La Couture and moved into the front line at Neuve Chapelle where they stayed until relieved during the night 14th-15th November. Over the two days they faced continuous shelling, sniping and mortar fire and sustained a number of casualties including James Pontefract who was killed on 14th November. |
